May Day Weekend WildOne1 announced that he wanted to do a project. I’m not going to lie, my heart sank a little bit.

I have so much to do currently and trying to figure out a project to occupy the three WildOnes, tidy the house, sort the garden, food shop and the never ending laundry didn’t exactly fill me with joy.

Then I saw the rusty Metal Planter that’s been in the hedge since last spring sometime when I first thought about making a bug hotel again with them (on a slightly smaller scale than the First ETW Big Hotel) and thought that will be a perfect project for 3 boys obsessed with bugs and creepy crawlies.

A quick raid of the recycling later and we had the starting blocks for our latest bug hotel. Tins and toilet roll inners at the front and old damp wood from the fire pile at the back.

A scout around the garden, and we collected sticks and branches, old leaves, and some rotten bamboo canes that had been left out all winter.

We trimmed them to the right sort of length and proceeded to pack the gaps with different habitats for all sorts of different bugs.

Then it was too me to draft DaddyETW for a bit of bug hunting to give the hotel the first guests.

So there it is, the 2nd ETW Bug Hotel created by the WildOnes
