What began as a simple blog to pass the time during the 2020 lockdowns — marking those tender early years in the lives of the WildOnes — has grown into something far beyond what I could have imagined.

Over the past five years, so much has changed. We went from one WildOne to two, then three. Mummy and DaddyETW separated for a while. We lost NannyETW. We moved from a caravan at Grandma and GrandadETW’s to our very own (rented) home.

As a family, we’ve reclaimed what was once an overgrown, dangerous garden and turned it into a place of play and provision. Somewhere along the way, MummyETW began to slow down. She found joy in the simple things — sourdough, batch baking, growing vegetables and flowers.

There’ve been new dietary needs to navigate (FODMAP, gluten-free, lactose-free… the list keeps growing), school changes, and plenty of “new normals” to adapt to. Somehow, we’re still here, figuring it all out together.

It hasn’t always been easy. We’ve had our share of low points — mentally and physically — and there haven’t always been quick or easy answers. We’ve had to carve out our own path, often without much help, as the NHS remains so stretched.

But there’s been joy, too — unexpected wins, adventures, and everyday magic.

This is our family. This is our story. It’s not polished or perfect. It’s real — wild, feral, and free. We move through chaos with laughter and creativity, even when the way forward isn’t clear.
